USU Sanpete Co Extension schedule of upcoming events; thank you!

MAR 26/27 4-H Working Ranch Horse Training Clinic NEW!

Fri, Mar 26: 6-9 pm Adult Leader Training with Horses

Sat, Mar 27, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.: Youth/Adult Training with Horses

Participants will learn: Safety with horses & livestock, Horseback Livestock handling techniques, ranch roping loops, horsemanship basics.

Fee: $10, includes lunch. Must pre-register by calling 283-7597. IMPORTANT NOTE: All Participants need to be registered with 4-H ($2) at the Sanpete Co. Extension office, 325 W 100 N, Ephraim.

April 10 is the Annual Sanpete County 4-H Talent Expo – all youth grades K-12 in Sanpete County are invited to participate, starting at 9:00 a.m.

Vocal, Instrumental, Dance, Variety, Demonstrations, Public Speaking, and Fashion Revue - all youth grades K-12 in Sanpete County are invited to participate.

Pre-registration is required by leaving a message at 4hsanpete@gmail.com (name and grade of youth, and which category they will be entering) or 283-7599 (same information as email plus a phone number). Youth can enter more than one category. All youth who participate will be recognized. 4-H’ers in high school can choose to participate at the Utah 4-H State Contests held in July in Logan; enrollment into 4-H can occur at the Talent Expo. The Expo will be held at Manti City Hall, 50 South Main, Eva Beal auditorium. If you’re not sure that your talent fits one of the categories, call Cheryl at 283-7599.

Food Handlers Permit Training, Saturday, April 17, 10-11:30 a.m. at Extension office, 325 W 100 N, Ephraim.

Cost is $15, check or cash brought to the Extension office, if pre-registered; $20 cash at the door.

Limited seating for 20 people. Youth ages 12 qualify to attend, for the same price.

The Food Handlers permit is required for booths at community events or where people are serving food.

This is being held on a Saturday so people who cannot attend during the work week or school time have an opportunity to get their Food Handlers Permit.

4-H Food Contests to be held in June

Awesome prizes! this year! Chef Extraordinaire is an individual, or team of two, preparing and serving a meal for 4 guests and a judge within a 3-hour time limit. Healthy Cuisine is an individual, or team of two, preparing and serving a quick, nutritious meal in one hour. In the Favorite Foods contest, participants are judged on selection, knowledge, and presentation of a favorite food. Watch for a date in May where those planning to cook can see the kitchens they will be using and to ask questions about the events.
