I have just received the information from Craig Dart regarding Teen Leadership Training (TLT).
The State Ambassadors have been working very hard to plan and deliver this year’s Teen Leadership Training (TLT). The Theme for this year is based on the Olympics “Go for Gold”. http://utah4h.org/htm/utah-4h-news/articleID=10139 The Ambassadors have planned many fun activities and will be teaching the bulk of the workshops. I’m very impressed with what they have come up with. I am very confident this will be an excellent event.
The Ambassadors felt that last year’s TRY teams were a huge success and really made a difference back in the counties. So they really wanted to capitalize on that momentum. So the agenda this year is similar to the TRY team idea. Here is a general outline of the agenda.
Thursday Oct 14th
Forming the groups, get to know you activities, Icebreakers, teambuilding, and fun
Friday Oct 15th
Workshops in the morning on Communication Skills, Facilitation Skills, Teaching Skills, Public Presence (etiquette/manners), and Organizational and Planning Skills.
The afternoon will be an opportunity for the teens to learn a curriculum they can return home and teach, similar to last year’s TRY teams.
Jr. Ambassador Program = =New curriculum developed by this year’s Ambassadors, and the perfect teaching opportunity for Senior Teen Council members. The curriculum is designed to teach 6-8th grade students leadership skills, confidence building, and prepare them for involvement in leadership programs such as teen council regional and county ambassadors.
Lights, Camera, Cooking = Learn how to help youth film and star in their own cooking show. Activities center on kids learning about cooking, how to give a demonstration, the steps needed to prepare food. Kids will have the opportunity to write their script, film with a digital Flip camera, and then to import those video clips to a laptop and assemble them to create a video.
Crime and Spy Science= Develop your leadership skills and learn to help youth discover how detectives use science to uncover the mysteries of a crime. Teach youth to solve the case of “The Murder of Professor Half Track” using clues, and conduct their own biotechnology experiments to solve the murder mystery. Have fun putting kids through a “Super Spy School” and teach the essentials of being a spy.
Night = Learn 4 international dances from around the world followed by a Dance
Saturday Oct 16th
More Leadership workshops on Teens Organizing Community Clubs, Recruitment of Teens to 4-H, meaningful Service Projects, and How to Become an Ambassador.
I know this is short notice so please get this out to your teens as soon as possible and register today. The deadline for registration is September 15th .
